| What does Advertising Regulations mean?
It's mainly referring to the ways on how a certain merchandise is advertised in a specific country or region. These regulations include laws and rules which limits the ads in such ways as duration, timing, placement. The most strongly supervised ads are for the tobacco and alcohol, and health related industry. Many communities have their own rules which differs from region to region.
For example in the USA false advertising and child related health ads are the most limited. In most Northern European countries it's forbidden to make ads for children or a under a specific age group, like 12. Also there are interdictions like there are no commercials before or after cartoons or shows which grab the younger generations attention. In the UK it's banned to advertise the alcohol and smoking relative benefits. Also it's not allowed to put these type of ads during or after sporting events. The heart of advertising in Asia it's considered to be Hong Kong, so the government is keen to give value for money, while their motto is: legal, decent honest and true. The authorities screen each and every TV commercial before they approve the broadcasting rights. But most of the non TV related ads go unchecked, and ASA can only take action only after a predetermined complaints were maid, this might be a serious disadvantage cause the campaign might be already long over when they decide to move against it. | | | | |
